Animated Music videos to drive recycling behaviour change.

Scroll

Katherine Town Council in the Northern Territory approached me to work with Kamahi Jordan King, to create some content videos that they could run on social media to inspire local communities to stop littering. We teamed up with Triple J Unearthed artist and created an animated music video.

I created all of the 3D animations, Kamahi did the vocals and Tom Thum made the music.

Original character design

We came up with many different character designs throughout the concepting phase. On the right are some sketches. I did most of this work on my iPad with Adobe Fresco.

Character Build and Rig

We knew the character was going to do a lot of dancing, so we gave him long lanky limbs for comedic reasons. The rig had to be incredibly easy to use to achieve the big dance moves.

Posing and pre-render

Working with multiple cameras to pose the character and set up scenes for the virtual camera to film our star.

The music

I worked most closely with Kamahi who lives in the area and understood the audience on a personal level. Tom Thum made all of the music out of pieces of rubbish, wheelie bins and bottles in his studio in Queensland.

The animatic

This set of drawings allowed the two musicians and myself to work together before we got too far down the track. It was used as a timing guide to keep everyone on the same page.
